UK Youth Parliament Elections 2019

This year, seven young people stood for election to become the next Member of Youth Parliament. Thank you to all those who supported and voted, to the schools for their participation in this year's elections and to our candidates for taking part.

  • Inspired to make a mark, to change the outside world for the better.

  • Campaigned with local policymakers and been part of partnership boards.

Fatima Ahmad

  • Believes that young people have the power to make Walsall a better place.

  • Confident public speaker.

  • Part of the student council in her school.

Alexandra Perrins

  • Good skills in communication and problem solving from being part of the student council.

  • Believes strongly that homelessness needs to be changed in Walsall and a curriculum for life.

Asad Kalang

  • Wants to campaign for better GCSE qualifications.

  • Free university education for everyone.

  • Free travel on public transport for all young people

Ibrahim Sohail

  • Safety is paramount.

  • Would like to see a united Walsall.

  • Create a more inclusive community, where everyone can get together.

Kamran Khan

  • Passionate about homelessness, mental health and knife crime.

  • Wants to bring change to the local area and set up projects across schools to tackle these issues directly.

Luqmaan Patel

  • Wants to be your voice as MYP.

  • Wants to campaign on anti-bullying, mental health, youth clubs and knife crime.

  • Believes youth clubs would be a great addition to Walsall.
